Batch Importing

Batch Importing

Batch importing allows you to bring existing ads from your connected ad platforms (e.g., Meta) into the system as backlogged batches. This enables you to:

  • Track the performance of ads that were created outside the system
  • Iterate on successful ads using the platform’s creative workflow
  • Maintain a complete history of all your brand’s creatives in one place

Accessing Batch Import

To import an existing ad:

  1. Navigate to Cycles > Open Imports Cycle
  2. Click the Import New Creative button in the top right

This opens a modal which guides you through a 3-step process.

Import Process

The import process uses a stepper interface with three steps: Offer, Creative, and Concept.

Step 1: Select Offer

Choose which offer this ad relates to. The offer determines the product or service being advertised.

  • Browse available offers for your brand
  • Select the offer that matches the ad you’re importing
  • Click Next to proceed

Step 2: Select Creative

Browse and select the ad creative you want to import from your connected ad platforms.

Searching Creatives:

  • Use the search box to filter creatives by name
  • Results update automatically as you type

Creative Information:

Each creative card displays:

  • Name: The creative’s name from the ad platform
  • Total Spend: How much has been spent on ads using this creative
  • Ad Count: Number of ads using this creative
  • Media Format: Badge indicating Video or Static

Actions:

  • Ad Manager: Opens the creatives in your platform’s Ad Manager (e.g., Meta Ads Manager)
  • View: Opens the creative’s post URL to preview it

Selection:

  • Click on a creative card to select it (highlighted with a border)
  • Click again to deselect
  • Click Next once a creative is selected

Step 3: Select Concept

The system analyzes the selected creative to extract its positioning elements and match it to an existing concept or help you create a new one.

Analysis Process:

When you reach this step, the system automatically:

  1. Downloads and analyzes the creative content
  2. Extracts positioning elements:
    • Persona: Who the ad is targeting
    • Problem: What problem it addresses
    • Trigger Event: What event prompts the viewer to act
    • Core Emotion: The emotional driver being leveraged
    • Sophistication Stage: The market’s sophistication level
    • Awareness State: The viewer’s awareness of the solution
  3. Searches for a matching existing concept based on these elements

Note

Analysis may take a couple of minutes as the creative is downloaded and processed by AI.

If a Matching Concept is Found:

The system displays the matching concept card with two options:

  • Accept Concept: Import the creative under this existing concept
  • Create New Concept: Ignore the match and create a new concept instead

If No Matching Concept is Found:

The system displays a message indicating no match was found with one option:

  • Create New Concept: Proceed to create a new concept with the extracted positioning elements pre-filled

Creating a New Concept

If you choose to create a new concept, you’ll be taken to the concept creation flow with the AI-extracted positioning elements pre-populated:

  • Persona (with justification from AI analysis)
  • Problem (with justification)
  • Trigger Event (with justification)
  • Core Emotion (with justification)
  • Sophistication Stage (with justification)
  • Awareness State (with justification)

You can review and adjust any of these elements before creating the concept.

What Gets Imported

When the import completes, the system creates:

A Backlogged Batch with:

  • Status: Published (since the ad is already live)
  • Type: Video or Static (based on the creative’s media format)
  • Linked Ad IDs: References to the original ads in the ad platform
  • Messaging: Placeholder values (“Backlogged”) since the messaging wasn’t created in-system

For Video Creatives:

  • A storyboard with scenes extracted from the video analysis
  • Each scene includes: speaker, script, visuals, and duration

For Static Creatives:

  • A visual brief extracted from the image analysis
  • Includes: objects, environment, focal point, and text elements
  • In-platform copy (headline, primary text, CTA) if detected

Use Cases

Tracking Existing Performance

Import ads that are already running to have their performance data alongside ads created in the system.

Iterating on Winners

When an imported ad performs well:

  1. Navigate to the backlogged batch
  2. Review the extracted storyboard or visual brief
  3. Create a new batch that iterates on the successful creative

Consolidating Creative History

Import historical creatives to maintain a complete record of your brand’s creative evolution, even for ads created before using the platform.
